In a keynote speech at ESLSCA Egypt’s Executive Education Summit 2025, Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) Chair Mohamed Farid argued that continuous professional education is central to turning policy into measurable outcomes, and urged executive education providers and firms to align training with Egypt’s ongoing economic reforms. He also pointed to progress in increasing women’s representation on company boards and said the FRA is preparing to launch a new women-focused smartphone application. Farid referenced a set of regulatory decisions, including the introduction of governance requirements for insurance companies for the first time, and a “key professions” decision that sets detailed conditions for key roles, including compliance with specified hours of continuous professional education and development for company employees. He also noted that the FRA’s registration requirements for accountants and auditors impose minimum annual training and a further minimum over a three-year period to support readiness to meet supervisory expectations. On gender inclusion, he reported that the share of companies with women on their boards increased from 14% in 2020 to 27%, while the number of female board members rose from 400 to 1,140, supported by regulatory interventions and structured leadership training; he cited FRA decisions aimed at gender diversity in leadership structures, prohibiting gender-based discrimination in financial services, and providing financial incentives for companies that promote gender inclusion. The planned “Women Empowerment” app is intended to connect qualified women with board opportunities in the non-banking financial services sector, alongside specialised training programmes for prospective female leaders.
