Luxembourg’s Ministry of Finance published a joint communiqué on bilateral meetings with Botswana’s Vice-President and Minister of Finance, Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, focusing on ways to strengthen Luxembourg–Botswana relations, including closer cooperation in financial services and expanded economic exchanges. Discussions were held with Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and with Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance. Talks with Bettel covered Luxembourg’s engagement in Africa and its development cooperation approach, as well as Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and regional dynamics in Southern Africa. In the meeting with Roth, the parties explored more intensive collaboration in financial services, with Luxembourg’s role in international markets and sustainable finance highlighted alongside efforts to promote innovation and digitalisation in the financial sector. Gaolathe also met representatives from the European Investment Bank, the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology and the Luxembourg Green Exchange.
