The Pensions Regulator has appointed Ben Gunnee as Interim Executive Director, Market Oversight, and launched a recruitment exercise for a permanent Executive Director for the division. Gunnee, described as having over 25 years’ experience across investment consulting, fiduciary management and private markets asset management, will lead the Market Oversight directorate from 23 February 2026. The role covers teams that supervise and engage with pensions market businesses and trustees, as TPR continues its shift toward a more prudential-style approach amid expected pensions reform and sector consolidation. Gunnee replaces outgoing Interim Executive Director Julian Lyne, who will depart following a handover ahead of taking a role at an investment management firm. The search for a permanent appointment will be led by head-hunters Odgers.
