Under a memorandum of understanding signed on 10 February 2025, the Bank of Italy, IVASS and Consob have updated the list of Italian financial conglomerates identified at 31 December 2024 for the purposes of supplementary supervision. Financial conglomerates are groups under common control whose exclusive or predominant activities involve providing significant services in at least two financial sectors (banking, investment services, insurance). Supplementary supervision is conducted under Legislative Decree 142/2005 and is intended to monitor the conglomerate’s capital adequacy and overall risk profile, including interconnections between insurance and banking or financial activities. The updated list includes one insurance-led conglomerate already subject to supplementary supervision in the previous year, with IVASS continuing as coordinator, and excludes conglomerates that include significant supervised institutions, whose identification is assigned to the European Central Bank within the Single Supervisory Mechanism.
