The Central Bank of Brazil announced that its Internal Audit unit has received the Quality Assessment certification from the Institute of Internal Auditors of Brazil, confirming compliance with the Global Internal Audit Standards and international best practices. The certification applies to the audit function at an institutional level and supports the central bank’s governance, internal controls and risk management framework. The central bank had previously become the first Brazilian public sector institution to obtain the certification in 2019. After that certification expired in 2024, it postponed recertification by one year to test adherence more rigorously against the new 2024 International Professional Practices Framework. The assessment was carried out in two stages, with a preliminary phase in September 2025 and a final review between March and April 2026. Evaluators from IIA Brazil reviewed documents, audit work, questionnaires and interviews with senior management and staff.
