The Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units announced that its annual plenary will take place in Luxembourg from July 6 to 11, 2025, marking the network’s 30th anniversary. The meeting will bring together more than 550 delegates from the Egmont Group, international partners and observers, and will center on the theme “Egmont Group at 30: The future of international coordination in AML and CFT.” The release frames the event as a forward-looking discussion on how financial intelligence units should adapt over the coming decade. The plenary’s thematic discussions will be organized around three sessions covering FIU autonomy and operational independence, resourcing the fight against illicit finance, and the future of the Egmont Secure Web. The week will also include meetings of the group’s four working groups and eight regional groups, operational training sessions, and workshops on topics including public-private partnerships, data analysis and asset recovery. Luxembourg’s Financial Intelligence Unit is hosting the event, which will also feature the annual Best Egmont Case Award competition focused on cases where cross-border financial intelligence exchange supported money laundering or terrorist financing investigations. The Egmont Group said the plenary is intended to be strategic and decision-oriented under its charter, with the thematic discussions aimed at producing concrete activities and results for member FIUs and other AML/CFT partners. The organization now comprises 177 member FIUs, up from 13 founding units in 1995.
