At the launch of the WE Finance Code in Albania, Bank of Albania Governor Sejko announced that the country has formally joined the global initiative to improve women entrepreneurs’ access to finance. The code creates a structured framework based on institutional leadership, action and data, complementing the central bank’s work on financial inclusion, statistics and financial infrastructure. Preparatory work has established the basis for a national view of financing to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises disaggregated by gender, alongside a Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code dashboard. The data is intended to help public authorities identify financing gaps and measure progress, while giving banks and microfinance institutions better information to develop products and processes suited to women entrepreneurs.
