The State Bank of Pakistan reported that its nationwide Go Cashless campaign for Eid-ul-Azha 2026 generated more than 480,000 digital transactions worth over PKR 34 billion across 123 cattle markets. The initiative was designed to increase acceptance of digital payments in a traditionally cash-intensive market and delivered a sharp year-on-year rise from about 65,000 transactions worth PKR 4.6 billion in 2025. The 2026 campaign expanded from 54 cattle markets in 2025 to 123 markets nationwide. Twenty-two participating banks set up camps and kiosks in assigned markets, onboarded cattle sellers, transporters and other service providers through real-time biometric verification, and issued QR codes to receive digital payments. Mobile banking vans with ATMs, cash counters and cash deposit machines were deployed in selected markets, while State Bank of Pakistan teams provided round-the-clock support. To support higher-value cattle purchases, transaction limits were temporarily increased from May 14, 2026 to June 5, 2026. Around 12,500 new accounts were opened for cattle farmers and allied service providers during the campaign.
