The Bank of Uganda has issued a public notice reminding the public that no person may engage in the business of dealing in foreign exchange without a licence issued under Section 3(1) of the Foreign Exchange Act, Cap. 167. It advised members of the public to transact only with companies licensed to deal in foreign exchange and pointed to its website for the list of licensed firms. The notice also urges individuals and entities operating foreign exchange businesses without a licence to comply with the law. The central bank said it will take appropriate measures to protect the public.

The Bank of Uganda has reminded the public that foreign exchange dealing requires a licence under the Foreign Exchange Act and advised customers to use only licensed companies listed on its website. It also urged unlicensed operators to comply with the law and said it will take measures to protect the public.
