Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users (CONDUSEF) published supervision statistics on user complaints in Veracruz for January to February 2026, reporting 1,703 complaints handled and MXN 12.8 million recovered for users in concluded cases. Veracruz accounted for 3.6% of complaints nationwide over the period, up 21.8% from the prior year, with an overall user-favourable outcome rate of 52.2%. Complaint intake was concentrated in the municipality of Veracruz (32.5%), followed by Xalapa (9.6%) and Boca del Río (8.2%). Most cases were handled via CONDUSEF’s electronic case-management process (67.8%), while 17.2% related to improper debt-collection practices; by sector, multiple banking represented 61.0% of complaints, insurers 13.1%, and credit information companies 11.2%. Within multiple banking, the leading drivers were unrecognised transactions (including internet transactions) and unrecognised electronic transfers, which together accounted for 44.8% of Veracruz complaints, with debit cards, credit cards and personal loans comprising 85.0% of multiple-banking product-related complaints. CONDUSEF also reported that 33.1% of Veracruz complaints were linked to suspected fraud and reiterated that its services are free, pointing users to its digital complaint portal and other reporting channels for assistance and to report abusive collection practices.
