The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported on a meeting between its management, Switzerland’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Salmon Bal, and representatives of SICPA SA, focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and exploring potential new areas of collaboration, including the production and quality of Tajikistan’s national currency. The discussions covered Switzerland’s role in representing Tajikistan’s interests on the Executive Boards of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, and ongoing cooperation between the National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Swiss National Bank on international reserve management, monetary policy, risk management, statistics, and the balance of payments. The bank also referenced SECO’s recent support for projects in Tajikistan’s financial sector, including measures linked to anti-crisis reforms and building a stable and effective financial system. SICPA SA presented information on its experience and products, while the central bank noted that the somoni has been issued since 2000 in cooperation with international banknote-printing companies and that it seeks to improve banknote quality in line with advanced international standards. The central bank indicated it expects SICPA SA to provide further information on its banknote-printing experience and possible cooperation options, and both sides expressed readiness to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation.
