The Reserve Bank of Fiji, with public and private sector partners, will host the Financial Inclusion Maritime Expo in Rotuma on 7–8 July 2026 at Ahau Government Station. The event is part of Fiji’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy 2022–2030 and is designed to bring financial, government, investment and digital services directly to a remote maritime community that faces distance and access constraints. The two-day expo will give residents direct access to services including account opening, mobile wallets, insurance, superannuation, business support, consumer protection information and investment options such as Unit Trusts, listed shares and Viti Bonds. It will also include financial literacy training to build money management and decision-making skills. The event is the first Reserve Bank of Fiji-led financial inclusion outreach in Rotuma and will include Rotuma’s first hackathon, aimed at students and young people developing solutions to local challenges and exploring opportunities through the Fiji Innovation Hub. The initiative is being delivered with support from the United Nations Pacific Insurance and Climate Adaptation Programme, the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, and the Royal Australian Air Force through the Fiji–Australia Defence Pacific Air Programme.
