The Australian Securities & Investments Commission has launched a new suite of free, independent retirement planning tools and guidance on the Moneysmart website, supported by a consumer awareness campaign directing users to a new Moneysmart Retirement Hub. The release responds to ASIC-commissioned national research on retirement readiness, including findings that 48% of Australians aged 50 to 66 worry they will run out of money in retirement, 32% feel they are already behind in preparing, and only 18% have a clear plan. The Hub’s central feature, the Retirement Planner, brings together estimated retirement income from superannuation, the Age Pension and other sources, helps users assess whether they are on track, and allows scenario testing over time. Additional tools include calculators for superannuation balances, Age Pension eligibility and retirement income options. The underlying research surveyed 2,065 Australians aged 45 to 75 in an online, weighted sample designed to be representative by age, gender and location.
