The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission published an update on its participation in Asian Claims Convention 2026 in Phuket, where it used the forum to emphasize stronger professional and operational standards for loss adjusters. The authority linked that message to the growing impact of climate volatility and technological change on insurance claims, and said it supports greater professionalism, transparency and the use of new technology to make claims assessment faster, more accurate and fairer for policyholders. The convention was held on May 12-14 and organized by the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters under the theme “Shaping the Future of Claims in the Asia Pacific Region.” More than 200 participants, including AICLA executives and insurance and loss-adjusting specialists from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, attended. In opening remarks, the Office of Insurance Commission’s representative cited insured natural-catastrophe losses worldwide of USD 107 billion in 2025, average annual flood-loss growth in Asia of about 12%, economic damage of USD 11 billion from tropical storms affecting Thailand and neighboring countries in 2025, and insured losses of USD 1.5 billion in Thailand from the March 2025 magnitude 7.7 Myanmar earthquake. The authority said the event provided an opportunity to deepen cooperation with professional bodies and international experts on developing loss adjuster standards, strengthening insurance knowledge and improving claims management capability.
