Moldova's Ministry of Finance announced that it held preparatory meetings for the bilateral screening of Chapter 17 on Economic and Monetary Policy as part of Moldova’s preparations for accession to the European Union. The exercise focused on improving the materials to be presented and gauging Moldova’s alignment with EU requirements ahead of the bilateral screening discussions with the European Commission. The preparatory sessions brought together the Chapter 17 working group, including representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Moldova, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the National Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the European Integration Office, and the Center for Harmonization of Legislation. Presentations were followed by exchanges of views and recommendations intended to strengthen inter-institutional coordination and support assessment of alignment with the EU acquis. The bilateral screening meeting with European Commission representatives is scheduled for May 2025 in Brussels.
