Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services has introduced the Universal Insurance Format, or FUS, a one-page tool designed to help consumers understand and compare insurance products more easily before buying them. Prudential Seguros México became the first insurer in the country to adopt the format and incorporate it into its products. The FUS condenses key policy information into 10 points, including coverage, exclusions, obligations, term, payment methods and cancellation. CONDUSEF linked the initiative to weak insurance uptake and disclosure gaps, citing ENSAFI 2023 data showing that only 7% of the population holds any type of insurance, and its own survey of people who filed insurance-related complaints between February 2023 and December 2025, in which 54.7% said they were dissatisfied with the explanation they received when taking out their policy. CONDUSEF also awarded Prudential Seguros México the “Commitment to Serving Older Adults” insignia in recognition of measures to make service for older customers more accessible and specialized, including process changes and staff training.

Mexico’s National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services has introduced a one-page Universal Insurance Format (FUS) to standardize and simplify pre-contractual disclosure of key insurance policy terms. The move responds to low insurance penetration and disclosure shortcomings, and Prudential Seguros México is the first insurer to adopt the format and has also received a CONDUSEF insignia for enhanced service to older adults.
