The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced that David Gillers will step down as Chief of Staff to Commissioner Rostin Behnam on February 7. Gillers previously served as the CFTC’s Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer from 2021 to January 20, 2025, and has not announced his next plans. Gillers joined the agency in July 2019 as Commissioner Behnam’s Chief of Staff and, as Chief of Staff and COO, acted as lead adviser on legal, policy and administrative matters while overseeing the commission’s daily operations and its 1,000 personnel. His tenure included policy work spanning digital assets, artificial intelligence, event contracts, market structure, cybersecurity and environmental derivatives products, as well as the agency’s return-to-office transition, and he led the review of voluntary carbon credit derivatives and the development and finalization of guidance on voluntary carbon credit derivative contracts.
