The National Bank of Bulgaria’s Governing Council approved revised graphic designs for the Bulgarian national side of circulating euro coins across all denominations, with the only change being the issue year “2026”. The approved designs will be used for production, with the artwork revisions prepared by Mint EAD. The national-side designs reflect the requirements for mandatory and optional design elements under Council Regulation (EU) No 729/2014, including a circle of 12 EU stars, the country name “БЪЛГАРИЯ” in Cyrillic, and for the EUR 2 coin an edge inscription reading “БОЖЕ ПАЗИ БЪЛГАРИЯ” repeated with inverted orientation on the second half. Optional elements include Cyrillic denomination wording (“евро”, “стотинка/стотинки”) and the year of the euro’s introduction in Bulgaria, while the main motifs mirror current Bulgarian circulating coins: the Madara Rider (1–50 cent), St Ivan of Rila (EUR 1) and Paisius of Hilendar (EUR 2).
