The Central Bank of Costa Rica reported that the trend-cycle series of the Monthly Economic Activity Index grew 3 percent year over year in June 2026, a slowdown of 2.2 percentage points from June 2025. Average year-over-year growth was 3.7 percent in the first half of 2026. Activity in special regimes rose 2.9 percent in June, slowing by 14.3 percentage points from a year earlier as manufacturing and professional and administrative services lost momentum. Activity in the definitive regime increased 3.1 percent, supported by private residential and public construction, education and health services, professional and administrative services, and financial and insurance services.
