The Central Bank of Russia will change the methodology for setting the official euro/ruble exchange rate from 8 June 2026. The rate will be derived from the US dollar/ruble exchange rate and the euro/US dollar exchange rate set by the European Central Bank as of 15.30 Moscow time on the same business day, rather than being calculated directly each day from actual euro/ruble foreign exchange transactions. The bank linked the change to low trading in the euro/ruble pair in the domestic foreign exchange market, which it said makes direct daily calculation less representative. The official US dollar/ruble exchange rate will continue to be calculated from credit institutions' reporting data on interbank foreign exchange transactions in the over-the-counter market. The Central Bank of Russia usually publishes official exchange rates on its website before 18.00 Moscow time.
