The Bank of Greece published June 2026 banking aggregates showing faster expansion in both lending and deposits. The annual growth rate of total credit to the domestic economy rose to 5.0% from 4.6% in May, while total deposits grew 8.8% year on year, up from 8.1%. Private sector deposits increased by EUR 8.575 billion during the month, compared with EUR 5.313 billion in May. Credit flows strengthened across the system, with total monthly net bank credit at EUR 3.501 billion versus EUR 1.644 billion in the previous month. Private sector credit growth accelerated to 7.7% from 7.4%, led by corporations, where annual growth increased to 10.2% from 9.8% and monthly net flows reached EUR 2.983 billion. Credit to non-financial corporations grew 9.8%, unchanged from May, but monthly net flows rose sharply to EUR 2.235 billion from EUR 427 million. Lending to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries accelerated to 13.2% from 9.2%. Household and private non-profit credit growth edged down to 2.6% from 2.7%, although monthly net flows increased to EUR 258 million, while credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships remained in annual contraction at -2.6%. On the funding side, total monthly net deposit inflows rose to EUR 8.756 billion from EUR 5.063 billion. Private sector deposit growth accelerated to 9.3% from 7.8%, driven mainly by corporate deposits, which increased by EUR 7.580 billion and posted annual growth of 23.0% versus 18.7% in May. Deposits from households and private non-profit institutions rose by EUR 995 million, with annual growth edging up to 4.3% from 4.1%. General government deposits increased by EUR 181 million in the month, but their annual growth rate fell to -1.7% from 14.6%.
