The Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering Secretariat, working with the World Bank and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, has completed a joint implementation support visit to Tuvalu. It was the APG’s first visit to Tuvalu since the country became a member in 2023, and focused on helping Tuvalu strengthen its anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and counter proliferation financing framework in a way that is proportionate to its risks and national context. During the week, the delegation met the deputy prime minister, cabinet ministers, permanent secretaries, government officials, private sector representatives and media. The discussions formed part of broader efforts to support Pacific Island members in building AML/CFT/CPF systems that reflect the operational challenges of small island states while moving toward global standards through regional and international cooperation.
