The European Systemic Risk Board has awarded the 2025 Ieke van den Burg Prize for research on systemic risk to “Better be careful: the replenishment of ABS backed by SME loans” by Arved Fenner, Philipp Klein and Carina Schlam. The award followed a competitive selection process with peer reviews conducted by members of the Advisory Scientific Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board. The prize commemorates Ieke van den Burg, who served on the inaugural Advisory Scientific Committee (2011–2014) and was a Member of the European Parliament (1999–2009). The winning paper will be presented at the Ninth ESRB annual conference on 3 September 2025, and a selection of the competing papers will be published in the ESRB Working Paper Series.
