The Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency of Türkiye has revised the monetary limits in the regulation governing monies unclaimed by beneficiaries under insurance subject to private law provisions, and introduced a new obligation to notify beneficiaries via a durable medium. Under the revised approach, amounts of TRY 100 and above must first be notified to beneficiaries through a durable medium, and where beneficiaries cannot be reached, amounts of TRY 1,000 and above must additionally be notified by registered mail with return receipt. The thresholds will be automatically increased each January in line with the annual consumer price index change rate published by the Turkish Statistical Institute.
