The Central Bank of Liberia announced that it will launch the Inclusive Instant Payment System on December 16, 2025 as a national digital payment platform regulated and supervised by the central bank. The system will principally enable mobile money transfers between Lone Star MTN and Orange Liberia and is designed to provide full interoperability between banks, mobile money operators and other financial service providers, allowing instant transactions across different platforms and institutions. The platform is intended to let individuals and businesses send and receive money in real time between bank accounts, mobile wallets and service providers. The central bank said the system is aimed at addressing fragmented payment channels, slow transaction processing and limited interoperability, while also supporting Government-to-Person payments such as salaries, social benefits and other public payments. Rollout of IIPS services will continue after the official launch in partnership with participating banks and mobile money operators.
