The Reserve Bank of Australia published a statement on a system issue on 27 January 2026 that affected some of its payment settlement services, including certain payments and property settlements. The outage meant some file based payments could not be processed, with services progressively restored during the day. The issue began at around 10:30 am and the cause was identified, with file exchange services becoming available from around 5:20 pm. The Fast Settlement Service was not affected. A subsequent issue further delayed some PEXA property settlements, leaving around 500 property transactions incomplete before the end of the (extended) settlement day, which ran until 10:45 pm; the RBA said it worked with industry participants on recovery and that, with no further system issues since late Tuesday evening, customers experiencing delays should contact their own financial institution.
