The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan issued a reminder on the need to take protective measures against credit fraud, encouraging the use of available tools and adherence to basic security practices when arranging loans. Key steps include activating the “Stop credit” service via the eGov.kz portal, the eGov mobile app or through a credit bureau to help control the ability to take out credit in a person’s name. The Agency also advised keeping SMS codes, PIN codes, one-time passwords (OTP) and Secure codes confidential, not installing remote-access software at a stranger’s request, avoiding suspicious links in SMS and messaging apps, using two-factor authentication for online banking and other important services, and regularly checking credit reports with credit bureaus to detect unauthorised borrowing.
