CDP announced that its CEO, Sherry Madera, has been appointed to the Global Advisory Council of Japan’s GX Acceleration Agency, aligning with the agency’s push to strengthen international networks and global communication around green transformation (GX). The GX Acceleration Agency, launched in July 2024, is tasked with supporting Japan’s transition to a decarbonized economy and targets more than JPY 150 trillion in public and private GX investment over the next 10 years. Its mandate includes providing financial support such as debt guarantees and administering Japan’s carbon pricing mechanism from fiscal year 2026, including operating an emissions trading system and collecting GX-related levies. The Global Advisory Council will provide strategic advice on Japan’s GX policy initiatives and help reinforce international communication of the GX agenda, with members drawn from sustainable finance, impact investing, and sustainability disclosure.
