The Bank of the Lao received an International Monetary Fund (IMF) team to begin the IMF’s 2025 Article IV macroeconomic consultation with the Lao PDR, including a briefing on the mission’s objectives and work plan. The visit was led by mission chief Angana Baneriji and included staff from IMF headquarters and the IMF Resident Representative Office in the Lao PDR. The mission is scheduled to work in the country from 5 to 19 November 2025, engaging with the Bank of the Lao, ministries and other relevant public and private sector counterparts; the Bank of the Lao’s deputy governor indicated the central bank’s willingness to cooperate and support the consultations.

The Bank of the Lao welcomed an International Monetary Fund (IMF) team to commence the 2025 Article IV macroeconomic consultation with the Lao PDR. Led by mission chief Angana Baneriji, the IMF team will engage with various stakeholders from 5 to 19 November 2025. The Bank of the Lao expressed its commitment to cooperate and support the consultations.
