The Albania Financial Services Authority published insurance market statistics for January to November 2025 showing gross written premiums of ALL 24.254bn, up 10.17% year on year, and 1,506,529 insurance contracts, up 4.69%. Non-life insurance accounted for 91.54% of premiums, life insurance 8.43% and reinsurance 0.028%, while compulsory insurance represented 62.42% of total premiums. Gross claims paid totalled around ALL 7.488bn, down 3.61% versus the same period in 2024, with motor insurance contributing about ALL 5.716bn or 76.33% of the total; paid-claims figures include Compensation Fund claims reported by the Albanian Insurance Bureau. Compulsory motor insurance premiums reached about ALL 15.139bn, up 12.40%, with domestic MTPL premiums up 13.48% and contracts up 7.06%, Green Card premiums up 9.09% with contracts down 2.14%, and border insurance premiums down 1.36% with contracts down 1.76%. Voluntary insurance premiums were about ALL 9.115bn, up 6.65%, with voluntary non-life premiums up 4.86%; within property, liabilities and guarantees (over ALL 3.791bn), fire and other property damage made up 66.86% and general liability 23.20%. Life insurance premiums totalled about ALL 2.045bn, up 13.41%, and accident and health premiums were around ALL 1.297bn, up 3.53%; average paid motor claims were ALL 160,000 for domestic MTPL, ALL 584,000 for Green Card and ALL 117,000 for casco.
