The Central Bank of Colombia has announced Laura Carla Moisá-Elicabide and César Augusto Giraldo-Giraldo as new members of its Board of Directors, succeeding Roberto Steiner-Sampedro and Jaime Jaramillo-Vallejo. Moisá-Elicabide joins from the National University of Colombia’s Medellín campus, where she most recently served as Vice-Rector, and holds a PhD in Economic Development from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), alongside economics degrees from the National University of Colombia. Giraldo-Giraldo previously served as an expert member of the Autonomous Committee of the Fiscal Rule (CARF) and has held roles including Technical and Economic Vice President at Asobancaria, as well as work with the World Bank and the United Nations. The central bank indicated that the new members were set to participate in their first Board meeting on 28 February, and it thanked Steiner-Sampedro and Jaramillo-Vallejo for contributions it said strengthened internal processes and supported autonomous and timely monetary policy decision-making.
