The Bank of Cape Verde participated in the public presentation of the 2024 State of Inclusive Instant Payment System (SIIPS) report in Accra, Ghana, where Cape Verde’s experience and the implementation project for the Inclusive Instant Transfers System (STII) were featured. Representatives Antónia Lopes and Elizângela Fonseca also joined a closed session at Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) with African regulators and instant payment system operators to discuss digital payments, including challenges, opportunities and trends. As promoter of the STII implementation in Cape Verde, the central bank took part in a panel on open-source technology, digital public goods and cloud computing, sharing challenges and lessons learned from the ongoing STII pilot. SIIPS is an annual AfricaNenda publication produced with the World Bank and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa that tracks developments in instant payment systems across Africa and analyses demand and supply dynamics for digital instant payments.
