The Central Bank of Taiwan reported that foreign exchange reserves increased by USD 7.63 billion in August 2026 to USD 601.90 billion at month-end. The rise reflected returns from reserve management, exchange rate movements among reserve currencies against the U.S. dollar and central bank intervention to smooth volatile capital flows and maintain an orderly foreign exchange market. The market value of securities investments and New Taiwan dollar deposits held by foreign portfolio investors reached USD 1.861 trillion at the end of August, equivalent to 309% of foreign exchange reserves.
