The National Bank of Bulgaria’s Governor Dimitar Radev has proposed to the National Assembly the reappointment of Radoslav Milenkov as Deputy Governor and head of the Banking Supervision Department for a second consecutive term, in line with statutory nomination requirements. Milenkov has served as Deputy Governor, head of Banking Supervision and a member of the National Bank of Bulgaria’s Governing Council since being elected by the 44th National Assembly on 22 March 2019 for a six-year mandate. The central bank highlighted that the priorities set at his 2019 appointment were delivered, pointing in particular to Bulgaria’s entry into the Banking Union in October 2020 and the subsequent conduct of banking supervision under full participation in the Single Supervisory Mechanism. The nomination is intended to maintain continuity in the National Bank of Bulgaria’s regulation and supervision of banks.
