The National Bank of Ukraine announced that Arsen Makarchuk has left the central bank at his own request, stepping down as Director of the Strategy and Development Department. The NBU will now search for and select candidates to fill the role. The future head of the department will be responsible for developing and updating the Financial Sector Development Strategy and the NBU Strategy and coordinating their implementation, including with other regulators, ministries and agencies. The remit also covers building the NBU’s strategic analysis and planning function, advancing strategic projects and initiatives, developing business analysis and process and project management systems, and coordinating improvements to corporate governance quality. The Strategy and Development Department sits within the General Bloc overseen by NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyy; Makarchuk joined the NBU in June 2015 and led the department from September 2020.
