The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority has launched an in-depth assessment of how financial firms use artificial intelligence and manage its opportunities, risks and operational challenges. The review will also examine firms’ expectations for future AI development and how they believe they are affected by the European Union’s AI Act, which has partially entered into force. A targeted questionnaire will cover a broad range of supervised firms, including banks, credit institutions, insurers, fund managers, payment institutions and investment firms. The assessment follows a 2024 survey but includes new questions reflecting rapid advances in AI, particularly generative models and related risks involving operational resilience and cybersecurity. The findings will help the authority direct its supervisory resources.
