Montserrat's Ministry of Finance & Economic Management reported that Premier and Minister of Finance Reuben T. Meade attended the 111th meeting of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Monetary Council in Barbuda on 18 July 2025, accompanied by Acting Financial Secretary Alverna Weekes, and participated in the opening ceremony in Antigua on 17 July. The meeting, chaired by Antigua and Barbuda’s Finance Minister Gaston Browne in his capacity as Chairman of the Monetary Council, featured the Governor of the ECCB, Timothy N.J. Antoine, presenting the Report on Monetary and Credit Conditions in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU). The report covered global economic developments and projections, the ECCU economic outlook, “theatres of transformation for the Big Push”, and updates on the Regional Regulator for the CBI/CIP and other ECCB projects. The Monetary Council, comprising the eight finance ministers of ECCB member countries, is the Bank’s highest decision-making body and meets at least twice a year to receive the Governor’s report and issue directives and guidelines on monetary and credit policy.
