The Central Bank of Peru published data showing that remittances sent by Peruvians abroad totalled USD 1,255 million in the first quarter of 2025, a 5.5% increase compared with the same quarter a year earlier. The United States remained the main source of remittances and recorded the largest increase, which the central bank linked to the recovery in employment in the US. Remittances in Q1 2025 were equivalent to 1.7% of GDP, slightly lower than in the first quarter of the previous year.
