The National Bank of Moldova published its monthly statistics on cash foreign exchange transactions with individuals conducted via currency exchange units for February 2025. Total turnover amounted to EUR 333.7 million equivalent, comprising EUR 255.8 million of foreign currency purchases against Moldovan lei and EUR 77.9 million of sales, with total turnover down 11.5% from the previous month and 1.9% lower than February 2024. The euro accounted for the largest share of activity, with EUR 230.5 million in turnover (69.1% of the total), followed by the US dollar at EUR 63.5 million (19.0%) and other currencies at EUR 29.6 million (8.9%). Month on month, turnover declined most in euro and US dollar transactions (down 12.3% and 13.4% respectively), while Russian rouble turnover rose 35.3% from a low base; year on year, euro turnover was broadly flat (down 1.2%), US dollar turnover fell 11.3%, and turnover in other currencies rose 16.1%.
