The Government of the Virgin Islands announced that an official delegation will attend a joint plenary session of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and MONEYVAL in Strasbourg, France from 10 to 13 June to engage on international Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and Countering Proliferation Financing (CPF) standards and to discuss the Territory’s compliance work. The delegation comprises Honourable Lorna Smith OBE, Attorney General Honourable Dawn Smith, National AML Coordinator Ms. Lavonna Burrows and the Financial Services Commission’s Deputy Managing Director of Regulation Mr. Glenford Malone. The programme includes discussions on the implementation of recent measures intended to improve the Virgin Islands’ use of financial and other intelligence in money laundering and terrorist financing investigations, strengthen targeted sanctions capabilities and support efforts to tackle criminal networks operating abroad. The Government indicated that it will issue a further statement after the plenary session concludes.
