The South Korea Financial Services Commission opened the country’s second regional integrated financial support center in Jeonnam-Gwangju, extending a model launched in Busan that combines policy finance, debt adjustment, employment and welfare referrals, and private bank services in one location. Gwangju Bank will offer preferential loan and savings products to local users, including an additional 0.5 percentage point interest rate reduction and free consulting for eligible small businesses with reported annual income of KRW 50 million or less. Participating institutions will also provide regular outreach services for residents who have difficulty visiting the center. The commission also detailed the expansion of its small business support package from KRW 10.5 trillion to KRW 12.3 trillion. Of this, KRW 7.8 trillion will target businesses facing operating difficulties, including an increase in emergency liquidity support from KRW 3 trillion to KRW 4.8 trillion and a new KRW 1.8 trillion program addressing higher raw material, interest and labor costs. A new electronic link with Korea Asset Management Corporation adds New Start Fund services to the integrated system, while links with the Industrial Bank of Korea and Korea Credit Guarantee Fund are planned for the first half of 2027.
