The Bank of the Lao published a readout of the Securities Management Committee’s third meeting of 2025, which reviewed implementation of prior resolutions and 2025 work, and unanimously approved the 2026 work plan for the Securities Commission Office and the Lao Securities Exchange. Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Somxay Kommasith, the meeting heard reports on 2025 activity and 2026 direction from the head of the Securities Commission Office and the Director General of the Lao Securities Exchange. The agreed 2026 priorities include promoting issuance of green bonds on the Lao Securities Exchange, developing conditions to support state-owned enterprise reform through capital market mechanisms, advancing International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) implementation by listed companies, and assessing the feasibility of establishing a derivatives market in Lao PDR. The Securities Commission Office and the Lao Securities Exchange were tasked with taking these workstreams forward under the 2026 plan.
