Tanzania's Insurance Regulatory Authority was highlighted by the Ministry of Health's permanent secretary during a visit to the authority's booth at the Insurance Village at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair. The official praised cooperation between TIRA and insurance sector stakeholders in supporting implementation of universal health insurance in Tanzania. During the visit, the permanent secretary toured booths of health insurance companies participating in the Insurance Village and received briefings on their services and public outreach efforts. She also called for stronger oversight of universal health insurance implementation to keep the insurance system fair and transparent, and urged the sector to reinforce its Insurance Anti-Fraud Unit so as to curb fraud, protect sector resources, strengthen public trust and support efficient insurance service delivery. The Insurance Village, coordinated by TIRA, continues to serve as a platform at the trade fair for providing insurance education, advice and services to the public through participating industry stakeholders.
