The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported on Deputy Governor Nesrin Shileku-Shala’s participation in the annual Economic and Financial Dialogue (ECOFIN) with regional partners, organised by the European Commission. In the high-level meeting, she set out the central bank’s views on competitiveness in the region, highlighting the need to simplify regulation and remove regulatory barriers to support economic development. The central bank welcomed the European Commission’s assessment of Kosovo’s progress in implementing recommendations to strengthen institutional capacity, align legislation with European Union standards, and use macroprudential tools effectively to safeguard financial stability. Shileku-Shala also highlighted the role of EU support in advancing financial integration, digitalisation and regulatory convergence, while reiterating the central bank’s commitment to European integration and calling for proportional alignment of rules, easier cross-border financial services and reduced administrative burdens to improve the investment environment.
