Guernsey's Committee for Economic Development has elected Deputy Marc Laine as its new vice-president and, as part of a wider set of committee appointments, named him Digital and Innovation Lead. Deputy Rhona Humphreys has been appointed Financial Services Lead, giving her a formal role in work tied to the committee's finance sector agenda. The changes follow the departure of former Vice-President Deputy Andrew Niles from the committee after he became a member of Policy & Resources. Under the Rules of Procedure of the States of Deliberation and their Committees, a member of Policy & Resources cannot also sit on another committee within the States of Guernsey, requiring him to step down from the Economic Development role. Humphreys said her new remit builds on her existing involvement in finance sector work and her position as the committee's political representative on the board of Guernsey Finance, with delivery of the Finance Sector Strategy identified as a key priority for the political term.
