The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced a set of senior appointments across policy, legislative affairs, public affairs, executive secretariat, legal, and cybersecurity functions, including naming Paras Malik as Counselor to the Secretary and the Department’s Chief AI Officer to lead Treasury’s strategic use of artificial intelligence. John Crews was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions Policy, while Connor Dunn and John Poulson were named Deputy Assistant Secretaries for Legislative Affairs covering Banking and Finance and International Affairs, respectively. Public Affairs appointments include Spencer Hurwitz (covering Terrorism and Financial Intelligence) and David O’Brien (covering Domestic Finance). Ashtyn Landen was appointed Deputy Executive Secretary and Zach Mollengarden Deputy Executive Secretary covering International Affairs; Shane Shannon will serve as Counselor to the General Counsel; and Cory Wilson was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection.
