The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) has launched a public consultation on its regulatory impact analysis (RIA) of flood and inundation coverage in comprehensive residential insurance, seeking input before deciding whether any regulatory measures are needed to increase market penetration in Brazil. The RIA assesses current market offerings for this coverage and evaluates alternatives to expand uptake. SUSEP is asking for perceptions, critiques and suggestions on the methodology used, the dimensions assessed and their weights, the potential impacts and their weights, and the scores assigned to each alternative; the process is simplified because the consultation concerns an RIA report rather than a draft regulation. Submissions are to be made using a questionnaire available on SUSEP’s website and sent to SUSEP within 30 days of publication of the consultation notice.
