The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission reported the completion of multi-agency training designed to help investigators, financial intelligence analysts, regulators and prosecutors turn beneficial ownership data into investigative leads. Organized with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Open Ownership, the program covered identifying concealed ownership and control, analyzing complex corporate structures and tracing suspected illicit assets. The 45 participants used simulated cases and received demonstrations of the SEC’s Hierarchical and Applicable Relations and Beneficial Ownership Registry, open-source information and other investigative tools. The program brought together Philippine regulatory, intelligence, investigative and prosecutorial authorities, as well as a delegation from Papua New Guinea, and concluded with participants setting commitments and timelines for applying beneficial ownership information in their respective functions.
