Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority approved PT Gadai Mulia Sejahtera and PT Solusi Gadai Pintar to expand their pawn business operations from the provincial level to nationwide coverage. The companies may now operate across Indonesia, subject to applicable regulations and good governance principles, after meeting licensing and documentation requirements under the authority’s pawn industry rules. The approvals bring the number of private pawn companies authorized to operate nationally to six, alongside state-owned PT Pegadaian, while several other applications remain under review. Industry lending rose 50.73% year over year to IDR 160.78 trillion in July 2026, with pawn products accounting for IDR 136.39 trillion, or 84.43% of the total. Funding increased 65.71% to IDR 126.93 trillion, comprising IDR 111.46 trillion in borrowings and IDR 15.47 trillion in issued securities.
