The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has urged additional stakeholders to respond to its consultation on the proposed Public Insurance Registry after receiving submissions from insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries, financial institutions and the public. The registry is envisaged as digital public infrastructure for India’s insurance sector, aimed at building trust, improving value and expanding coverage. The consultation, launched on Sept. 1, covers the registry’s scope, design and implementation. The proposed population-scale infrastructure would establish a consistent view of insurance records while supporting functions such as policy comparison, servicing, claims and identification of unclaimed amounts.
